Celebrating My First Mother's Day

scratch that OUR first Mother's Day!

I was 5 weeks pregnant last year for mother's day, but this year Sweet Baby D is here and that made it all the more sweet.

We started off the day by exchanging hugs, kisses, "Happy Mother's Day" wishes and gifts. I personally didn't want anything, but my mom wouldn't let that happen so I received two cards, one from Sweet Baby D and one from her. Loved it!

Waking up to this face is ALL I need.
Months before today, I had given my life back to Christ (again and for the FINAL time🙌 ) joined a local church and was baptized on Mother's Day!

I felt great peace and joy in coming to the end of ME and following Christ wholeheartedly.
He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. -- John 3:30

The weather ended up being very nice that day so after church, we headed over to the park for a picnic. This particular park holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my grandmother.

All of us together. "The Three Musketeers" as Mamaw would say.

This was my mom's first mother's day without my grandmother so it was definitely bittersweet for her and because we had held her celebration of life there two weeks prior.

At the celebration of life in the park, we held a butterfly release for all of our family. While we were eating, a butterfly came and sat beside our blanket and we smiled in knowing that she is in our hearts forever.

Sweet Baby D enjoying her day.
I thank God daily for her.

Becoming a mother was the greatest thing to ever happen to me and, God willing, I will be able to enjoy many more with my princess and celebrating my mom -- my best friend.

How did you spend your mother's day?
