Hey loves!

I recently got the amazing opportunity to interview one of the most highly sought after celebrity hair stylists in the business and star of the WE tv series "LA Hair", Kim Kimble, about her haircare line, Kimble Beauty Bounce Back Curl, which launched in Sally Beauty Supply Stores nationwide in 2015.  In our interview, Kim shares what we can expect when trying the products for the first time, her best advice for transitioning from relaxed to natural, and she also gives some insight on the hair trends she's excited about for 2016!

1. Congratulations on launching Kimble Beauty Bounce Back Curl in Sally Beauty Supply Stores! For those who've never experienced the line, what can we expect?

Thank you! You can expect great products that will help define your curls without stiffness or product build up.

2. What are some of your personal must-haves for styling natural hair? (Products, tools, etc.)

My hair is natural and it love the styling versatility. When I am styling it curly, I start by wetting my hair down using my Kimble Beauty Liquid Curl Enhancer. Next, I cocktail my Kimble Beauty Bounce Back Curl Cream with my Kimble Beauty Bounce Back Curl Revitalizer in the palm of my hands and then finger comb throughout. This is great for wash and go’s or setting on flexi rods. Caring for your hair is also really important so I make sure to sleep on silk pillowcases and always use a satin bonnet.

3. What advice would you give to someone thinking of transitioning from relaxed to natural hair?

Start by roller setting your hair or doing twist outs and sets to maintain consistent texture and for the health of the hair. I also recommend that my clients wear a protective weave or wig sometimes. The key is not to use a lot of heat on your hair. You want to keep the curl you have during this in-between stage so it’s okay to add hair. That’s what I did, I wore extensions to avoid using too much heat on my hair. It can get straight from pressing the hair so I wanted a way to style my hair without a lot of heat. If I blow it out, I don’t flat iron or press it; I will roller set it so it’s not too much heat. The goal is to keep the integrity of the hair.

4. The winter season can be harsh on hair, what are some tips for maintaining healthy hair during the colder months?

It’s important to keep curly hair hydrated. Wash your hair at night and set it with twists, braids or as a wet set that will dry overnight. And don’t forget to condition your hair. You can refresh your curls without rewetting your hair using my Kimble Beauty Bounce Back Curl Liquid Curl Enhancer which contains coconut oil, jojoba oil and wheat germ oil to condition the hair and revitalize curls.

5. What hair trends are you excited to see continue into 2016? And some that are on the rise?

I think that people are more conscious about healthy hair now more than ever and we are getting to a place where healthy hair is on the rise. Natural has been popular but healthy hair and healthy hair regimens are big for my clients. We’re doing curl cocktails - it’s a regimen - and flexi rod sets are more popular. In the winter months, you can’t wet your hair as much so blow outs and roller sets are big. People are gravitating to their natural texture and loving taking care of it with products that work and are good for the health of the hair.

I also think that color is still popular and so are braids. It varies. People are still wear wigs and extensions - wigs have really taken over. People like to change up their style without the damage. They want healthy hair without the compromise and now have the options.

6. How are you currently wearing your hair?

I like to change my hair up. I’ve been wearing it naturally curl with a few pieces of my Hairdrobe in it for fun. I also blow it out and set it on silk rollers.

7. What is the best piece of advice you've ever received? Personally or professionally.

Stay with God. I use this advice personally and professionally.

With my clients: give more than what they pay you for. Give them more than what they are receiving from you. Giving is a blessing. You reap what you sew and can reap good benefits when you are doing the right thing. When people are happy, they feel good. To me, that’s the best blessing from what I’m getting.

Word of mouth is important. People will talk when they are happy to I always want to make sure I’m leaving my client extremely happy.

Don’t bring your personal problems to your business.

8. What's next for Kim Kimble?

I am focusing on education and continuing to build my brand. I have a few new products in the pipeline but want to continue focusing on education and speaking with people about healthy hair care.

  1. I love watching her show and hopefully next time I go to Sally's I can check out her line (since I'm such a product junkie and all). Great interview!

  2. Beautiful hair depends upon a healthy diet plan. As with every other place of your body, hair requires appropriate nutrition as a way to grow.
