5 Things I Learned In 2015

Happy New Year!!
It is 2016, y'all. *omg*

I hope everyone's new year is off to an excellent beginning. I just love New Year's. It's a time to reflect on the past and look forward to what's to come. It's a time for setting new goals and finding new ways to improve the old ones. You get a fresh start! You get to try again! You made it!!

I want to celebrate my first year of blogging (yay!) with 5 things I learned in 2015.

1. Happiness starts with Y-O-U.
I’ve learned that depending on people, promises, your job, your relationship, material possessions, etc, to bring you happiness is a recipe for disaster. You have to LOVE you and find happiness within yourself before you can find happiness in anything or anyone else.

2. If it is meant to be, IT WILL BE.
I’ve learned that you can’t rush ANYTHING in life that is worth having or experiencing. Everything will happen on it’s own time. You will have that dream career, that dream car/house, dream relationship, etc. when you release the notion that it must happen when YOU want it to. I love the saying, “If you ever want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” This couldn’t be more true. Let things happen as they must and find peace in knowing that you will be where you need to be when you need to be there.

3. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the FIRST time.
Wise words spoken by the late Maya Angelou. I have learned to take people for what they DO, and not always what they say. EVERYTHING you need to see/know will be revealed to you if you keep your eyes, ears, and heart open.

4. It’s IMPORTANT and NECESSARY to take time for YOU!
I’ve learned that a mental and physical break is beneficial to your growth as a human being. Taking time for yourself is a beautiful selfish act that one should never apologize for. Take a walk, cry, laugh, binge watch your fave shows, go shopping, get a manicure, travel, take 30 seconds to say a prayer when your day gets hard or people stress you (trust me, I KNOW!). Then tell them, I’m not checking out on you, I’m just simply checking in on ME.

5. TRUST the process.
I’ve learned as a Christian that GOD HAS A PLAN. Plain and simple. Certain things must happen in order to “level up” in your life.  I’ve learned that God will NEVER take away something in your life that He will not replenish. He will never allow pain without bringing joy shortly thereafter. He will never leave you if you TRUST Him. Trust the process, trust the PLAN.

Share one thing or a few things you've learned last year! I would LOVE to hear your story!

  1. These are all great lesssons, every single one. The one I struggle with the most is #2. I am so impatient. The Maya Angelou words are some of my favorite of hers. She's just so wise.
